Wine Insight
Cambridge Road Vineyard is a small, 5.5 acre estate in the esteemed Martinborough Terrace Appellation.
Lance Redgewell and his family are the newest stewards of this vineyard, which was first planted in Pinot Noir and Syrah grapes in 1986; previously known as the Fraser Block. The vines are amongst the oldest in the country and Cambridge Road Vineyard continue their management with love and pride.
Lance says,"For us, small means beautiful. We focus our time and energy on perfecting and beautifying our land and cultivate it according to natural biodynamic principles. Our commitment is to making fine, handcrafted wines through meticulous viticulture and traditional winemaking techniques."
A blend of Pinot Gris, Riesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Noir. The Naturalist is Cambridge Road's sparkling wine made in the usual cloudy raw fashion. Nothing added or taken away, just organic grape juice wild-fermented under cap in the style of a Pettilant Natural; this wine is slightly off-dry but carries a good, balancing acidity. Notes of roses, grapefruit, stonefruit, and white pepper.
