Wine Insight
Cambridge Road Vineyard is a small, 5.5 acre estate in the esteemed Martinborough Terrace Appellation.
Lance Redgewell and his family are the newest stewards of this vineyard, which was first planted in Pinot Noir and Syrah grapes in 1986; previously known as the Fraser Block. The vines are amongst the oldest in the country and Cambridge Road Vineyard continue their management with love and pride.
Lance says,"For us, small means beautiful. We focus our time and energy on perfecting and beautifying our land and cultivate it according to natural biodynamic principles. Our commitment is to making fine, handcrafted wines through meticulous viticulture and traditional winemaking techniques."
Our latest edition of the Cloudwalker series continues with the same single site on the stony fringe of the Dry River. This year we've built more tannin into the frame by completing a full 3 weeks of soaking with skins and seeds. On the palate this wine shows chalk and spice - expect the wine to really sing over the next 3 years. Aromatically, autumn fruit compose the intended core - revealing a character akin to pear skin with a warm spice and a slightly phenolic curve.
