Featured Winemaker : Domaine Des Enfants

 

Domaine des Enfants was founded by Marcel Buhler, a Swiss-born perfectionist who arrived in Roussillon in 2007.  More than half of his 23 hectares of vines, located in 20 parcels in seven communes, were planted before the Second World War, and some of the vines were even planted over 100 years ago.  

From the beginning his intention was not only to make great wines, but to also preserve the cultural landscape and heritage of the region. He tries to show other ways of cultivating using horses and plows instead of herbicides, exhausting handcraft instead of mere efficiency. Marcel’s wines are the result of working within and together with nature.  In his wines Marcel is looking for the sheer sweetness of fruit but also levity and the retention of fresh fruit acidity. Marcel wants to give people, through his wines, the opportunity to enjoy life, to indulge and to share this pleasure with others.

“The foundation of Domaine des Enfants is the realization of a dream – to be one with yourself, others and nature. Therefore our wines are the result of working within and together with nature.The love and energy invested in the care of our powerful and exceptional vines gives us peace and satisfaction.
