Wine Insight
Alicia Basa & Mark Warner from Borachio are quite simply making frivolous wine from organic fruit and without any additions. They are persistently delicious and exciting.
After starting their winemaking work with James Erskine of Jauma, now Alicia and Mark have well and truly built their own reputation with Borachio, sourcing organic grapes from Mount Compass and Mount Torrens in South Australia to make light, playful wines with a cheeky soul. Zero additives and zero fuss.
"100% whole bunch pressed chardonnay. Fond of sand dunes and salty air, quaint little villages here and there? If you’ve been to Mungo Brush on the NSW coast you might picture massive dunes and remember ripping the trucks of a skateboard deck to slide down the monsters. I guess I’d seen people do it with ‘for sale’ signs and assumed my classic Powell Peralta deck would do the trick. It didn’t. Copped a face full of sand. Textural and memorable. Hey, how about that view?!" - Mark and Alecia
