Wine Insight
Alicia Basa & Mark Warner from Borachio are quite simply making frivolous wine from organic fruit and without any additions. They are persistently delicious and exciting.
After starting their winemaking work with James Erskine of Jauma, now Alicia and Mark have well and truly built their own reputation with Borachio, sourcing organic grapes from Mount Compass and Mount Torrens in South Australia to make light, playful wines with a cheeky soul. Zero additives and zero fuss.
"The wine comprises of direct pressed pinot, whole bunch pinot macerated for 2 days, carbonic pinot, direct pressed pinot over whole bunches of Pinot Gris - sealed up for 5 days and direct pressed chardonnay. Ethereal light red drinking with great purity is pretty much what got us into this whole wine thing.' - Borachio
