Wine Insight
Cambridge Road Vineyard is a small, 5.5 acre estate in the esteemed Martinborough Terrace Appellation.
Lance Redgewell and his family are the newest stewards of this vineyard, which was first planted in Pinot Noir and Syrah grapes in 1986; previously known as the Fraser Block. The vines are amongst the oldest in the country and Cambridge Road Vineyard continue their management with love and pride.
Lance says,"For us, small means beautiful. We focus our time and energy on perfecting and beautifying our land and cultivate it according to natural biodynamic principles. Our commitment is to making fine, handcrafted wines through meticulous viticulture and traditional winemaking techniques."
This wine reflects our desire to deliver wines that are connected to the land. Here we have taken beautiful, whole bunch fermented Syrah and raised it in an ancient native Totara barrel. The wine exhibits a vibrant intensity of aromatic spices and black fruit. Bottled without addition to allow it's pure self full expression. Dark colour, substantial fruit weight and fresh acidity are the hallmarks of this wine. Enjoy now or any time.
