Wine Insight
Claus Preisinger is one of, if not the best red wine makers in Austria. Working in the town of Gols on the northeast side of the large, but very shallow, lake Neusiedlersee near the Hungarian border, Claus Preisinger farms biodynamically and conscientiously and his approach in the cellar is minimalist resulting in extraordinarily expressions.
This particular Cuvee is a blend of 50% Zweigelt, 30% Blaufrankisch, 20% Merlot. Ripe black cherry, raspberry, black fruit dominate the palette; Dark caramel and dark earth on the nose. Sappy, dense, lush blackberry, raspberry, pepper, tobacco, leather and spice flavors with firm tannins.
