Wine Insight
Jauma produces hand crafted wines is South Australia. Owned and managed by Denise and James Erskine. The Erskines live and work in the Adelaide Hills with their children Danby and Audrey. James is honours graduate in soil chemistry and a certified sommelier. Denise trained and worked as a nurse and now specializes in Cranial sacral therapy.
Their first vintage was in 2010. All of the vineyards are managed by Fiona Wood and all of their wines are made without the addition of yeasts, acids, polymers, enzymes, tannins or filtration. All of the vineyard blocks grown on the hilly ranges of McLaren Vale, are hand harvested, farmed biodynamically, and bottled with minimal sulfites.
Jauma is a founding member of the Natural Wine Theory, a revolutionary group formed a few years ago that has turned perceptions of Australian wine upside down. Committed to sustainable viticulture grounded in organic and biodynamic principles, Jauma and the rest of this motley crew are crafting wines with incredible vitality, sex appeal and dangerous drinkability.
Named after the beautiful Mt Fuji of Japan this is straight Chenin Blanc from the sands of Lulu's block in Blewitt Springs. A naturally effervescent chenin, with nice crisp acidity, taste of apples and pears and a touch of minerality.
