Wine Insight
Jean and Agnès Foillard took over their father’s domaine in 1980. Most of their vineyards are planted on the Côte du Py, the famed slope outside the town of Villié-Morgon and the pride of Morgon. The approach to the vineyard is based on old practices of viticulture and vinification. Never using synthetic herbicides or pesticides, harvesting late, rigorously sorting to remove all but the healthiest grapes, adding minimal doses of sulfur dioxide or none at all, and refusing both chaptalization and filtration.
As with most Beaujolais; This label is made with Gamay grape variety; The 2018 vintage has plenty of ripe raspberry and cranberry scents on the nose, hints of vanilla. The palate is sweet on the entry with plenty of tart red cherry fruit mixed with strawberry and cranberry. Bright acidity. Still young. Drink now or in a few years.
