Wine Insight
For decades, the Fritsch family has been the driving force behind quality winegrowing on the Wagram . Grüner Veltliner, which occupies one third of the vineyard, Riesling and Zweigelt are the main varieties. Pinot Noir is “a matter of the heart” for Karl Fritsch, he can show him all his skills.
His efforts were rewarded with the 1997 Falstaff Winemaker award. Respect for man and nature, biodynamic management of its 25 hectares of vineyards, transparency, creative spontaneity and openness lead to a unique style.
Fritsch’s wines are straightforward, crisp and elegant with a certain earthiness. They reflect not only the terroir of the Wagram , but also the personality of their creator.
Made from Gruner Veltiner and Traminer. Deep golden/orange colour. Complex nose of yeast, orange rind, pepper, wheat, fennel, rose. Nice bite on the palate, high acidity with peppery notes, candied citrus, fine tannin and a long complex finish with earthy notes and some bitterness.
