Wine Insight

Oronce de Beler, born 1978 in Paris decided to leave the city life in 2005 and moved to this ancient house in Vosne-Romanée. The house – Maison Roman – is an old house that dates back to the thirteenth century. Oronce has always been passionate about Burgundy and its different terroirs, so he followed his dream to make great, natural wines by creating his own small Winery in his old cellar.

Oronce buys grapes from friends that farms organic and mainly biodynamic, but plows the vineyards himself with  Prosper and Quattro, his horses. He works with quite a wide spread of sites, from Marsannay to Chablis, to be able to show the diversity of the terroirs. The vineyards consists mainly of old vines and the selection of fruit is really strict. Oronce uses a small hand press for all wines.  His cellar is small, there´s not much more then 10 barrels in there. The bottling is really carefully done – 2 bottles at a time (by turning a two-way tap) to ensure that only the best juice is bottled. Minimal use of SO2. Wonderful wines from a young vibrant producer.

Organic farming is practiced in the La Maison Romane Vosne-Romanée Aux Réas vineyards. No chemical treatments are used on the soil. Instead they use mechanical methods with the help of advanced horse pulling tools and biodynamic practices. All clusters are picked by hand and classified in the vineyard.

In the winery, alcoholic fermentation takes place with whole clusters, without destemming and in line with lunar cycles. La Maison Romane Vosne-Romanée Aux Réas ages in French oak barrels for 15 to 19 months.

La Maison Romane Vosne-Romanée Aux Réas 2015 is a red wine made using organic practices to reveal the full delicacy of the Pinot Noir variety.

La Maison Romane Vosne-Romanée Aux Réas 2015 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of black fruits and spices like cloves. On the palate it is unctuous, sweet and velvety.
