Wine Insight

"We are in the suggestive landscape of South Moravia. Among dirt roads, rural villages and ancient abbeys, 94% of all the vineyard hectares of the Czech Republic are located. The lands, mostly flat, which sometimes leave room for slight undulations, and a continental climate, characterized by cool and rainy summers and dry and harsh winters, make the area more favorable to viticulture"

Here, between the towns of Moravsky Zizkov and Velke Bilovice, stands the Nestarec winery, in the hands of the very young Milan, who inaugurated the second generation, carrying out with enthusiasm what his father had started in 2001, with the planting of the first vineyard . Milan has immediately proved to be able to dare: wines of maximum integrity, from long maceration on the skins, without only added, untreated and unclear, which today begin to appear on the tables of the Parisian bistros and the nouvelle vague of the restaurants of the European capitals ."

This cuvee is made using 100% Gruner Veltliner. The grapes are hand-harvested and destemmed. The juice ferments in 600-liter 5-year-old acacia barrels. 30% of the skins are in contact with the juice for about 14 days, with occasional piegeage and indigenous yeast fermentation. The wine spends 7 months under flor in the same barrels. The wine is bottled unfiltered, unfined, and with zero sulfur added.

"On the nose, there are aromas of apple, citrus, honeysuckle and a hint of nuts. The extended skin contact and ageing under the flor bring layers of complexity to the palate, with notes of bitter lemon, green apple, grapefruit, yeast, dill and salty minerals alongside energetic acidity."
