Wine Insight :
Marko Kovac for last 9 years has been organizing one of most influential wine festivals for wines of Central and East Europe ‘Karakterre’. For long time his dream and mission was to make his own wine, hence began this project. He met Petar Marinović from island of Korčula of famed vineyard, Smokvica;
Petar had always sold his wines to cooperatives which was blended with other vinyard grapes to make bulk wine. When Marko met Petar he realized that the grapes could be much more than just its worth in weight. Petr does not use herbicides, pesticides and other chemicals in his vineyards. So after some discussions, they formulated the idea to make wine together.
The fruits of the labour (no pun intended) bore Posip for white and Plavac for red. As Marko says "I don’t want to make orange wines, or anything that market wants. I just want to showcase terroir from island of Korčual on most honest way i know."
