Wine Insight
Oriol Artigas is a young winemaker from the area of Alella. After studying and working in various viticultural regions of the Catalan geography, he decided to settle in his own territory, Alella.
The Oriol Artigas Viticultors winery is located in Llinars, where it makes its wines with territorial identity. A connoisseur of the area, he interprets the landscape with great skill and personality, working the vineyard organically and producing his wines in a natural, non-interventional way. This results in honest and transparent wines, which, thanks to a fascinating saline touch, express the full character of the Mediterranean climate.
Oriol Artigas La Rumbera is a white wine made with Pansa Blanca from different vineyards that are between 35 and 80 years old, planted on soils of white and pink granite sands and quaternary alluvial soils terraces with fossils. They are located at altitudes that range from 100 to 350 metres.
The harvest is carried our manually. Once the grapes arrive at the winery, 80% of the grapes are destemmed and pressed, and the rest macerated with their skins for 5 days. Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel deposits with native yeasts. Once the fermentation has ended, the wine rests on its fine lees for 9 months in the same deposits. It is bottled without clarifying nor stabilising or filtering and without added sulphur.
La Rumbera 2018 is an honest, fresh and saline wine. On the nose, the aromas of ripe white fruit and flowery notes stand out. In the mouth, it is amiable, easy to drink and very long, thanks to the Mediterranean salinity that is so characteristic of Oriol wines.
